Melissa Mercadal-Brotons

España

Melissa Mercadal es música, psicóloga y musicoterapeuta, licenciada en Psicología por la Universitat de Barcelona y doctora en Educación Musical por la University of Oregon (EE. UU.). Es subdirectora de Ordenación y Planificación Académica de la ESMUC, donde ejerce como profesora y dirige el Máster en Musicoterapia. Cuenta con una amplia trayectoria docente, investigadora y clínica en musicoterapia, educación musical e inclusión. Ha sido presidenta de la World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT), forma parte del Consejo de Administración de la International Association for Music and Medicine y dirige un grupo de interés especial sobre musicoterapia y demencia. Su investigación se centra en la relación entre música y salud, especialmente en el ámbito de las demencias.

Melissa Mercadal is a musician, psychologist, and music therapist. She holds a degree in Psychology from the Universitat de Barcelona and a PhD in Music Education from the University of Oregon (USA). She is Deputy Director for Academic Organisation and Planning at ESMUC, where she is also a professor and Director of the Master’s Degree in Music Therapy. She has extensive teaching, research, and clinical experience in music therapy, music education, and inclusion. She is a Past President of the World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT), serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association for Music and Medicine, and leads a special interest group on music therapy and dementia. Her research focuses on the relationship between music and health, particularly in the field of dementia.

Camila Pfeiffer

Camila Pfeiffer es musicoterapeuta neurológica especializada en neurorehabilitación y doctoranda en Psicología y Neurociencias Aplicadas. Fundó y dirigió el sector de Musicoterapia para adultos de uno de los centros de referencia en neurorehabilitación de Argentina. Desde 2018 dirige el Máster en Musicoterapia de ArtEZ University (Países Bajos). En 2008 cofundó Neuromúsica, Red Iberoamericana de Musicoterapia y Neurociencias, que hoy conecta a cientos de colegas de la región. Es miembro de la junta directiva de la International Association for Music and Medicine (IAMM). Su trabajo combina rigor científico y una mirada humana centrada en el sentido y la calidad de vida de las personas con quienes trabaja.

Camila Pfeiffer is a neurological music therapist specialising in neurorehabilitation and a doctoral candidate in Psychology and Applied Neuroscience. She founded and directed the adult music therapy department at one of Argentina’s leading neurorehabilitation centres. Since 2018, she has directed the Master of Music Therapy programme at ArtEZ University of the Arts in the Netherlands. In 2008, she co-founded Neuromúsica, the Ibero-American Network of Music Therapy and Neuroscience, which now connects hundreds of professionals across the region. She serves on the board of the International Association for Music and Medicine (IAMM). Her work combines scientific rigour with a human-centred approach focused on meaning and quality of life.

Hanne Mette Ridder

Hanne Mette Ridder es profesora, doctora y musicoterapeuta acreditada (DMTF). Dirige la especialización de doctorado en Musicoterapia de la Universidad de Aalborg (Dinamarca). Es terapeuta certificada en Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) por la EAMI y supervisora clínica. Fue presidenta de la European Music Therapy Confederation (EMTC). Lidera investigaciones sobre musicoterapia e intervenciones complejas con personas con demencia y otros trastornos neurocognitivos.

Hanne Mette Ridder is Professor, PhD, and a DMTF-certified music therapist. She heads the PhD specialisation in Music Therapy at Aalborg University, Denmark. She is an EAMI-certified Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) therapist and clinical supervisor, and a former president of the European Music Therapy Confederation (EMTC). She leads research on music therapy and complex interventions for people with dementia and other neurocognitive disorders.






Natalia García Casares

España

Natalia García Casares es Catedrática de Neurología en el Departamento de Medicina de la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Málaga. Neuróloga vía MIR por el Hospital Virgen de la Victoria de Málaga y Doctora Europea Cum Laude. Es Co-Responsable Principal (co-IR) del Grupo “Arteriosclerosis, Prevención Cardiovascular y Metabolismo y enfermedades neurológicas” del Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas de Málaga (IBIMA).  Ha realizado estancias en el Neurology and Neurosurgery Hospital, Queen Square y en el Kings College de Londres en Inglaterra, adquiriendo amplia experiencia en patologías cognitivas y neuropsiquiátricas y  técnicas de Neuroimagen como la RM funcional entre otras. Su línea de investigación principal, se basa en “Cognición, enfermedad de Alzheimer y Neuroimagen”. También lidera la línea de investigación “Cerebro, neurología y Música” sobre el procesamiento cognitivo musical cerebral y la musicoterapia aplicada a enfermedades neurodegenerativas que lleva a cabo en el Centro de Investigaciones Médico Sanitarias (CIMES) de la Universidad de Málaga. Es Grado Superior de Violonchelo por el Conservatorio Superior de Música de Málaga.

 

Natalia García Casares is Professor of Neurology in the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Málaga. She completed her specialist training in Neurology through the Spanish MIR programme at Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Málaga and holds a European Doctorate awarded cum laude. She is Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) of the Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular Prevention and Metabolism, and Neurological Diseases Research Group at the Biomedical Research Institute of Málaga (IBIMA). She has undertaken research stays at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, and King’s College London, gaining extensive experience in cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders and neuroimaging techniques, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Her principal research interests focus on cognition, Alzheimer’s disease and neuroimaging. She also leads the research line “Brain, Neurology and Music”, which explores the neural and cognitive processing of music and the application of music therapy in neurodegenerative diseases. This research is conducted at the Centre for Medical and Health Research (CIMES) at the University of Málaga. In addition to her medical and scientific background, she holds an Advanced Diploma in Cello Performance from the Málaga Higher Conservatory of Music.

Teresa Leite

Teresa Leite es musicoterapeuta, psicóloga clínica y profesora universitaria. Máster en Musicoterapia (New York University), Doctorado en Psicología Clínica (Adelphi University). Coordinadora del Máster en Musicoterapia y Máster en Psicología Clínica en la Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, Portugal. Musicoterapeuta supervisora (EMTC). Psicoterapeuta y terapeuta de familia y pareja. Supervisora de musicoterapeutas y psicólogos clínicos. Presidenta de la Comisión de Certificación en Musicoterapia de la Asociación Portuguesa de Musicoterapia.

Teresa Leite is a music therapist, clinical psychologist and university lecturer. She holds a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from New York University and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University. She is the Coordinator of the Master’s programmes in Music Therapy and Clinical Psychology at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, Portugal. She is an EMTC-recognised music therapy supervisor, as well as a psychotherapist and family and couples therapist. She supervises both music therapists and clinical psychologists and is President of the Music Therapy Certification Committee of the Portuguese Association of Music Therapy.
